Descrição

One of the most urgent problems in the detection of cosmic radiation by Cherenkov Telescopes is the influence of telescope degradation on image generation. Of the various degradation possibilities, the most influential are the deterioration of the reflectivity of the mirrors and the loss of efficiency of the photomultipliers. The process of simulating these effects was recently implemented in the new version of the CTA simulator, SimTelArray, and has not yet been analyzed, which opens up a unique opportunity to contribute to the CTA Collaboration and the particle astrophysics community in general.
Using SimTelArray to simulate the detection of particle showers with degraded mirrors, the effects of said degradation on CTA detections will be analysed, providing crucial context for what the real data from the telescope will look like once it's fully operational.
Preliminary results regarding the detection of gamma, proton and electron primary events with different mirror reflectivity indices will be presented.
Keywords: Astroparticle Physics, Cosmic Rays, Degradation Effect, Cherenkov Telescope Array.
